What is cacao?

Cacao seeds come from a small, tropical American tree and are used to make cocoa, cocoa butter and of course, chocolate. The cacao seed is the raw product you have before the fermentation process, cocoa is after, and chocolate is when all the sugar has been added. Cacao is completely unprocessed and therefore all the fantastic benefits of the seeds remain intact. When finding a cacao ceremony UK, make sure the cacao being used is Fairtrade and ethical.

The Many and Varied Benefits of Cacao

There are so many physical benefits to cacao that it’s a wonder the NHS don’t have ‘cacao ceremony UK’ as one of their free sign-ups!  Here are just a few:

  • It has more antioxidants than blueberries and is one of the most effective superfoods at absorbing free radicals
  • It has over 300 vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and amino acids
  • It helps to regulate glucose and blood sugar production
  • Cacao contains flavonoids that help to clot the blood and lower blood pressure.
  • It improves blood flow to the brain and the heart helping us to stay alert and focused
  • It is rich in fibre and a diuretic

It also has many spiritual benefits and has been used in ceremonies for thousands of years. Because if the improved blood flow, cacao is said to be a ‘heart-opening’ plant used to heighten meditation These are just some of the ways that cacao can help you on your spiritual path:

  • Brings guidance and clarity of mind
  • Opens the heart to forgiveness
  • Helps us find peace
  • Develops creativity and imagination
  • Releases past trauma

Find Your Bliss At At Cacao Ceremony UK

The really fun and interesting part about cacao is that it acts as a natural high. The flavonoids, amino acids and antioxidants within it release the neurotransmitters we call the ‘bliss molecules’:

SEROTONIN – commonly known as the ‘feel-good chemical.’ It is well known for its ability to reduce stress and improve our mood by generating feelings of comfort, contentment, happiness, relaxation, and well-being.

DOPAMINE – an essential neurotransmitter that helps us to feel pleasure. It is naturally released when we are in love and blissed out. It enhances our enjoyment of life by helping us feel motivated and more goal-oriented, increases our feelings of satisfaction, improves our attention and concentration levels, and most importantly,  ignites our arousal and passion.

ANANDAMIDE – produces a feeling of euphoria without leaving you in a mind-altered state. In Sanskrit, ‘ananda’  literally means, ‘internal bliss.’ It works like amphetamines, boosting our feelings of being in love and decreasing depression, but without the side effects, or nasty comedown.

Both dopamine and anandamide act like endocannabinoids because they uniquely resemble THC (the psychoactive compound found in marijuana)  With the help of Cacao, these neurotransmitters directly fit and connect into the cannabinoid receptor sites of our nervous system, lifting depression and giving us a natural high. It’s no wonder going to a cacao ceremony UK helps us feel loved up and blissed out!
